By: Garrett Ketner Castle lifeIf you lived in a castle in medieval times you could do almost anything. If you were a guard you were never bored. There are guards at the top of the castle looking for enemies every hour of the day every day of the week. The guards had a special place where only guards ate. The guards also controlled the prisoners, they would either suffer from their punishments, be killed or stay in the dungeon. The people that ate with the Lord would have had to be invited. The guest would have to eat with their hands. The plates were stale bread. The Lords food would always be tested by someone else to make sure it had not been poisoned. The Lord had his own bedroom for him and his lady. The Lord’s family had their own room also. It was called the solar. The Lord and his family could always go to the chapel and pray to God. At the bottom of the castle there was a well, the water source for the castle. If anyone had to use the restroom they would go to the garderobe. The sewage would either lead to the moat or just the ground below depending on the castle. Outside the castle were many events such as Falconry which is when the bird owners would train their bird to catch small animals such as rats. Another event was the jousting tournament. Two knights would get on their horses and ram in to each other with long their long lance and try to knock each other off on the ground. That would injure or even kill some of the knights. That was basically the life if you lived within the castle.
